Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! With the unrest across the globe and on campuses, along with the personal hardships you may be encountering, we are strongly encouraging you to be mindful of your safety and well-being. There is never a better time to engage in self-care than right now. See below for more advice on maintaining a healthy mindset and taking care of yourself through hard times.

Maintaining your mental health can be difficult, especially if you have a busy schedule. But we’re here to remind you of the importance of practicing good self-care. Here are some ways our team practices good self-care to give you some ideas! Then, scroll down to see our panel on maintaining a healthy mentality in the music industry and our staff’s recommended feel-good songs.

“Technology breaks and taking time hiking in nature. I feel more connected to the present moment when I remove tech and connect to my senses in nature.” – Laura Clark, Director of Education

“I try to get enough sleep, stay hydrated, and I make sure to incorporate small movements into everyday life (even if it’s just taking a walk during my lunch break.” – Mallory Jackson, Human Resources Manager

“I try to give myself alone time to decompress and do something that I love. I crochet, watch game shows, and spend time outside and off technology.” – Danielle McDuffie, Digital Marketing Coordinator

“I listen to music, play with my animals, and buy a new pair of shoes. The music takes me to a better space, my animals keep me grounded and the shoes, well the shoes keep me on the right path.” – Cinnamon Muhlbauer, Operations Manager

“Morning yoga & walks, meditation as needed, baths, Morning and nightly rituals help keep me grounded.” – Nurit Smith, Executive Director

“I try to trust what my body is telling me! If I am feeling stressed, anxious, tired, etc, I try to understand why and move through the feelings rather than against them.” – Nia Williams, Career Development Associate Manager
